Couples Therapy
When caring about each other isn't enough on its own.
Most couples who come to therapy aren't there because they've stopped caring. They're there because they're stuck — in the same arguments, the same distance, the same patterns — and they're not sure how to find their way back to each other.
What brings couples to therapy
You might be having the same argument over and over, with neither of you feeling heard. You might feel more like roommates than partners. There may be a rupture — infidelity, a major conflict, a loss — that has left you unsure whether the relationship can recover. Or things may not be in crisis, but you sense a growing distance and want to address it before it becomes harder to bridge.
Couples therapy can also be a proactive step — for partners who want to build stronger communication skills before marriage, navigate a significant transition together, or simply invest in the health of their relationship.
How I work with couples
I work from an attachment-based, emotionally focused perspective. This means I'm interested in what's happening beneath the surface of your conflicts — the fears, needs, and longings that often drive the patterns you're stuck in. When partners can understand each other at that level, the dynamic tends to shift.
I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method (Level I & II), both of which are well-researched approaches to couples work. I also bring attention to how each partner's family history, cultural background, and attachment style contribute to the relationship dynamic.
My approach is non-blaming. I'm not here to take sides or determine who's right. I'm here to help both of you feel understood and to create conditions where real conversation — and real change — becomes possible.
